Santos Jorge S.A., a company linked to Barcelona and born more than 70 years ago, has relied on Giropes for the automation of the weight management during the glass recycling processes, thus achieving innovative facilities in its sector using the latest technologies in the market.

Thanks to Santos Jorge S.A. and its partnership with Ecovidrio, the used glass from the province of Girona and the AMB - metropolitan area of Barcelona (after we deposit it in the green container), goes directly to the recycling plant in Mollet del Vallès. There, the trucks full of glass are weighed on a scale and then unloaded into hoppers, which drop the glass onto conveyor belts where the shredding and separation process begins.

Options such as the BPGMO truck scale are excellent for this type of demanding environment, with a removable modular system that facilitates and speeds up maintenance and cleaning processes.

After the separation of materials fed into the hoppers, the glass is ground to become cullet, or in other words, transformed from waste to resource, as the cullet serves as raw material to manufacture new glass containers.

Together, by recycling glass containers, we collaborate in avoiding the extraction of raw materials from nature (key to reduce the overexploitation of natural resources) and support the reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

Glass is a material which is 100% recycled, so the more control we have during its processing, the more effective the process will be, which translates into a greater positive impact on the environment.
