Did you know that in Giropes we not only make installations from scratch, but we also optimize the existing ones? Thanks to our technical team, we can study the particular case of each client and thus specify the ideal solution for your business.

This is the case of the project designed for Arenes i Graves Castellot. We have upgraded their weighbridge scale, whose objective is to automatically capture the weight of the trucks that leave their excavation loaded with aggregates for their customers.

Before getting into the subject and to understand the role of weighing, we present Arenes i Graves Castellot, a company specialized in the construction sector and in the management of construction waste, also covering the manufacture and supply of concrete and aggregates. With a solid track record in the market, the company has a large fleet of machinery, including excavators, dumpers, truck cranes and rotary cranes, which allows it to consolidate as a reference in the Osona region. Its business approach is characterized by a firm commitment to a balance between business growth and environmental sustainability.

An authentic restoration of a truck scale system.

Arenes y Graves Castellot has several quarries in Osona, where they extract and sell the stone and gravel needed to prepare the aggregates to be sold to the construction sector. The Osona company already had a weighing system consisting of two truck scales. The incoming Giropes scale was already automated. However, its business depends on the tons of raw materials sold, so it was decided to automate the second scale. This was somewhat old, but still robust, so it needed a complete overhaul to fulfill its function, and this is where Giropes comes in.

Let's get to work! Giropes designed a new type of installation for Arenes and Graves Castellot, with automated weighing station for outbound trucks. To regain the accuracy of the weighbridge, new G8R load cells were installed, compression load cells with a capacity of up to 30 tons. These cells have a high capacity and accuracy, and are verified according to legal metrology.

Weighing automation is carried out with the GST4, self-service terminal, optimizing output control with adaptable software and multiple optional accessories such as intercom, thermal printer and 3G/4G communication, which make it even more efficient. Its 10.1” touch screen with integrated visor ensures visibility even under high sun exposure.

Of course, the installation is complemented by Gestruck software, designed to optimize access control and operational flow, offering integration with ERP systems, automatic report generation and reduction of operating time and costs.

Thus, the installation is connected to a traffic light placed at the exit, which will indicate to drivers when they have finished weighing.

The scale at the entrance calculates the weight of the truck, which will be reflected in the GI430 alphanumeric indicator, with truck-weighing firmware and Ethernet connection to transmit the weighing data to the software.

With all this equipment, Arenas y Graves Castellot will increase the efficiency of its weighing processes because, being one of the largest companies in its sector, it can weigh up to 30 trucks per day, which is equivalent to 600 tons in a single day.

Thanks to the level of detail and customization of Giropes' projects, Arenas y Graves Castellot has been able to give a new life to a piece of equipment, thus contributing to a sustainable development activity.
