We present a new project that we carried out for the "Centro de Reciclaje de Residuos de Andorra" (Waste Treatment Center of Andorra), in charge of managing the waste generated by both individuals and companies in the Principality of Andorra, recycling or recovering them to transform them into energy.

In recent years, the CTRASA has been treating more than 40,000 tons of waste annually and is capable of producing 6% of the electricity consumed in the country, promoting the circular economy and consequently reinforcing the sustainable structure of Andorra. Its facilities are divided into three blocks on a surface of about 23,000m2: an energy recovery plant for non-recyclable waste, a transfer plant for recoverable waste and a dump.

With the aim of minimizing the environmental impact of its activity and optimizing the management in the processes of reception and valuation of waste, we replaced an old scale installed by Giropes and built, transported and installed a new weighbridge model BPGMO with galvanized finish and capable of weighing vehicles with up to 60T of load. A model designed for demanding environments, with high resistance capacity to frequent use and based on a modular structure with removable spaces that allow and facilitate access to the interior of pit and the performance of cleaning or maintenance operations of the scale.

Accompanying the bridge scale and to complete the installation they acquired an indicator GI650, a model that is characterized by its 8" touch screen and with high protection against dust entry or water leaks. In addition, it has multiple functions and firmware that make it an innovative multifunction indicator suitable for all types of sectors.

The CTRASA is part of the European and Spanish associations of energy recovery plants and has an educational point where guided tours are carried out for schoolchildren and other groups interested in knowing the operation and principles of the circular economy.

Like Giropes, the Andorra Waste Recycling Center feels a commitment to the goal of minimizing the impact of the industry on the environment, and they are able to self-produce more than 90% of the energy consumed by their facilities.
