World Environment Day: Giropes moves toward a more sustainable model

Industrial weighing solutions committed to the preservation of the environment.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, from Giropes, industrial weighing solutions, we reaffirm our commitment to a more sustainable development model that respects the planet, in line with the motto of the United Nations awareness campaign, “We are the #GenerationRestoration”.

Supply chain

In supply chain matters, Giropes places emphasis on collaborating with UNE-EN ISO 14201 certified suppliers, which means that the truck scales we manufacture contain 90% recycled material that is also 100% recyclable. A requirement that is also subsequently verified by AENOR (Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification).

Energy efficiency

Energy sustainability is another pillar of Giropes' sustainability policies. As a result, solar panels were installed at the Girona and Toledo plants. These provide enough energy to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 37 tons in the case of Girona and 15 tons in the case of Toledo.

Production efficiency

At the heavy-tonnage scale production plant in Girona, the robotic welding line has also been modernized to optimize energy efficiency.

Waste management

The plastic strapping used in packaging has been replaced by ecological strapping, eliminating bubble wrap and incorporating Kraft paper.

Other restorative actions at Giropes

In addition, small restorative actions continue to be part of the company's day-to-day business. Last year, for example, an osmosis water machine was installed, which avoids the use of up to 330 plastic bottles per year, as well as the use of plastic cups, since personalized water bottles were distributed to all employees.

Also, with the aim of continuing to reduce CO2 emissions,Giropes is committed to local talent, prioritizing the hiring of employees residing in the Empordà area and the province of Girona.
